Welcome to the Defend The North X Senpai Project Cosplay Contest and Official After Party.

The cosplay contest will be held in the Senpai Project Cosplay Room (Yorktown Room of the Crowne Plaza) and it will begin at 5:00 PM. If you wish to compete in the contest the deadline to sign up is 4:30 PM.

This is a Saturday ONLY event during Defend The North 2017. During this day, all antendees are free to roam and play games casually for being apart of the Cosplay Event held by Senpai Project. Again this is a Saturday ONLY event.

Contest Rules & Details

Rules Of The Cosplay Contest

1) Mainstage Cosplay has one category; Workmanship. Entries are judged on both the overall appearance of their cosplay, and the quality of the construction of the costume. Purchased costumes may not compete in this category. Contestants are encouraged to bring reference pictures if they want. If an outfit includes a combination of created and purchased items, any purchased pieces must be disclosed to the judges. Judges will determine your eligibility, which generally requires that at least 75% of your costume has been created or altered in a significant enough of a manner. Judges have the exclusive ability to determine a costumes eligibility in the workmanship contest.
Judging Criteria:

  • Percentage of the costume that is handmade
  • Attention to detail
  • Quality
  • Overall appearance
  • Maneuverability / functionality

 

During the pre-judging portion of the event, judges will inspect each costume, inquire as to how they were designed and created, and answer questions contestants may have about the contest. Costumes from all genres (video game, comic book, anime, movies, television, ect.) are acceptable. Mashups and original designs are also permitted.

2) No skits during judging or catwalk.

3) No nudity. No costume is no costume.

4) No profanity allowed on stage. That includes messages on signs or clothes. Anyone who violates this may be disqualified from the competition.

5) No political or religious statement during the catwalk. Anyone who violates this may be disqualified from the competition.

6) Do not use any sort of projectile at all! Nothing must leave you while you are on the catwalk. Anyone who violates this rule may be disqualified from the competition.

7) No flash, explosive devices, or similar special effects are to be used. Anyone who violates this rule may be disqualified from the competition.

8) Weapons Policy, which is as follows: All weapons must be non-working. No functioning projectile weapons – including water pistols, silly-string guns, and ping-pong pistols. Bladed weapons must be sheathed at all times.

9) No clowning around or showing off in the common areas. Any weapon used in an offensive manner may be disqualified from the competition. We expect you to use good judgment.

10) THERE is ONLINE APPLICATIONS. Sign up when you arrive at the con. (Updated as of May 15th)

11) Costumes must be self-contained.

12) Do not enter or exit the catwalk except at the designated points or when told.

13) Each contestant may only enter one costume into the competition.

14) Please silence your phones and all other electrical devices that might disturb the judge’s. Do not speak to your friends or walk away when you’re in the contest. You will be disqualified.

15) The prizes will be distributed on the day of the event.

16) Contestants can only enter in one category, Individual.

17) The costume contest is limited to 50 contestants.

18) Photographers are allowed to take pictures.

The Official After Party is at two locations that are side by side. The Lazy and The Whiskey Creek. Both locations will have DJs available and the entry is entirely FREE! That’s right, free… it’s our way of saying thank you for joining us!
